Dan McCabe

At The Hotel Kilmore

“Coming from a long lineage of folk musicians Dan started out his career in live music at an early age playing in local pubs and venues at the age of 18.

Dan would go from strength to strength in this side of the industry quickly going on to perform music on a full time basis performing 5 nights a week in places like Temple Bar, Santa Ponca and all over Ireland.  Due to the covid 19 lockdown and lack of opportunity for live music performances, Dan started posting videos on social media platforms merely as a bit of fun and to escape the hardship and gloom of the pandemic.

Little did he know that these recordings would be viewed over 10 million times online and would catch the attention of Senior producers at RTÉ.  During the summer of 2020 while working as healthcare worker himself, Dan would feature on RTÉ's the Sunday game performing a version of Luke Kelly’s Song for Ireland as a tribute to healthcare workers battling the covid 19 pandemic. This segment would quickly become viral and acted as a real catalyst in Dan’s success gaining him a massive online following and leading the way in Dan making appearances on RTÉ's The Today Show and Tg4’s Realta Agustin Gaelta.

The highlight of Dan’s career came on New Years Eve when he was invited to Áras an Uachtaráin by request of President Michael D Higgins. Dan performed The Parting Glass after the Presidential New Years Speech as a tribute to all the people who have sadly passed away from Covid 19. Dan went on to release his Debut Album “Dan McCabe - Songs for Ireland (The Lockdown laments)” which features songs that Dan posted online during the Covid 19 lockdown in 2020. “
